Итак, интервью, как это бывает: 
- Officer: Hello
- Me: Hi (улыбаемся)
- O.: So… let me see… You are an exchange student, aren’t you?
- M: Yes, Sir
- O: And what are you going to do in America? Are you going to work?
- M: I'm going to work as a waitress at an Italian restaurant. You may laugh, but working as a waitress has been o ne of the dreams of my life. Indeed, every time I am at the restaurant with my parents or friends, I want to be at the place of the waiter. 
- O.: (Офицер действительно смеется) Well, it’s a hard job, believe me!
- M: Yes, I’ve heard about it. Well, I’ll be given an opportunity to try it out!
- O: Were do you study?
- M: (далее элегантным жестом достается студенческий, зачетка, справки из вузов и начинается ода Alma Mater) I’m enrolled in the program of the Ukrainian-French University which means that I am a student at the Linguistic University of NN, where I study French and English, and at the Economics Department of the NN State University. That’s why when I graduate in two years I’ll be given two diplomas! 
- O.: (Деловито листает зачетку, смотрит штампы в студенческом) I see…Very nice…May I have a look at your previous passport with the previous visas? This is the new o ne, isn’t it?
- M.: Yes, the passport that you have is new, because the old o ne has already expired. Here is my old passport. (Дается старый загран, офицер его листает, ставит штамп на старую американскую визу “Canceled without prejudice»). As you see, I've traveled a lot in my life. I've been many times to Europe: Germany and France. I strongly believe that travelling is the greatest thing in the world! o ne gets to know other cultures, mentalities, meets new interesting people and practices the language. Alone changing the atmosphere makes it worth to go o n trip! 
- O: Ok, well…thank you, your documents are all right, everything is fine and you can pick up your visa within few days. Good luck and have a nice trip!
- M: Thank you. Bye!

Вышеприведенное собеседование не является типичным, так как обычно консул уделяет каждому студенту гораздо меньше времени и гораздо меньше вникает во все подробности. Это объясняется огромной загрузкой посольства, и тем, что они сами ее себе еще больше увеличили, решив вызывать на собеседование каждого человека выезжающего в США. Частенько бывает такое, что если ему что-то не понравиться в ваших документах и вы за мгновение не успеете развеять его сомнения, он тут же шлепнет вам печать отказа в паспорт и до свидания Америка. И никакие слезы и мольбы не помогут уже, хотя есть шанс подать документы на повторное рассмотрение, но, во-первых, это стоит еще одну сотню долларов, а во вторых – это практически всегда бессмысленно, так как обычно посольство своих взглядов не меняет, хотя очень редко возможны приятные исключения.
