Before the beginning of the programme all Au Pairs must attend the training in Washington:
Before au pairs meet the families, they attend the orientations and training in Washington, which conduct professional teachers and the workers of the Health Protection; they use books, lection materials, video- and practical seminars. The training will be held one week and it include:
§ Seminars about child’s development (from babies till the kids of 12 years old), health, security, basic types of activity of children of different age;
§ Information about the life in the USA, national features and how to adapt in the USA in the quickest period of time, how to overcome cultural shock;
§ The instruction from the Red Cross programme, which include: how to do first medical help, prevention of the accidents, how to guarantee the security of the kid in the car, in the fire, while using the toys, in the house and in the open air etc.
§ The explanation of the rules and conditions of the J-1 visa ( according to which you will stay in the USA) and the programme of the insurance of your health;
All Au pairs will be presented with the guide-book, which is the witness of their participation in the programme (where tells about the particularity of the looking after children in America, how to look after children of different age: from babies till pupils, basic rules of first medical help, providing the security of the children etc.)
