Получение визы

After college will have confirmed your participation in this programme and will have sent all the necessary documents for the further participation and for the interview, the hardest period begins – the preparation of the documents (certificates, application forms and other forms etc.) for the interview in the Embassy.

We will provide you with the list of the documents and the examples of their filling in and will help to prepare the documents and check if they were filled in correctly. The hardest thing is to prove your relations to Ukraine – this requirement is spread on all the programmes for graduators (as, unlike the programme Work and Travel, you are not a student any more and nothing stops you from emigration). What can prove your relations, besides real estate and kids, we will also tell you))

When all the documents for granting visa are ready, you can go to the Embassy.

You can apply for the visa from Monday till Thursday from 8-30 – 11-00

Canadian Embassy
Jaroslavlov Val, str 31
Tel – 044 590-31-00
Fax – 044 590-31-87
e-mail: kyiv-im-enquiry@international.gc.ca

You can enter in the embassy in order of living turn. The main wave of people enter from 8-30 till 9-00 (after 9-00 the queue moves very slow) and if you want to be one of the first who apply, you have to come to the Embassy at 7-00. But it doesn’t guarantee that you will receive the answer at once – usually all the participant get the results at about 16-00 and all this time they spend in the Embassy.

All the unnecessary things you must leave in the clock-house (purses also)

Then you have to hand over the documents and you will be sent to the interview – you will be told to return at 15-00 or will be appointed to another day (individually). But usually the interview is held the same day.

You will be asked many questions on the interview (the interview is held in Ukrainian, but they can pass to English). According to you documents and nuances they usually say: ‘answer the questions clearly’ and sometimes don’t accept some documents – but it happens individually.

The Usual Questions which are asked on the interview:
1. How did you find out about the programme?
2. Why did you decide to participate in this programme?
3. How much did you pay (this sum is pointed in the acceptance letter)?
4. How much money do you have on this programme?
5. What are the terms of the programme?
6. Where have you studied (your speciality, institute of higher education, what are the dates of your departure and arrival)?
7. Where have you worked (your employer, your position, salary, the dates)?
8. Where have you got the money for the programme?
9. What are your plans for future after the programme?
10. How this programme will help you in your future career?
11. What are your parents and what do they do?
12. Have you booked the tickets?
13. What agency helped you to register?
14. How much money have you paid for the programme?
15. What kind of work is included (you have to say, that internship is conducted in the hotel business and is the essential part of your study. You don’t know the details, but as soon as the programme is over, you will be given a certificate, which proves that you have had you internship and it’s very important for your future career)
16. They can ask any question (the nuances according to the programme, for example, how much time does the programme include (meaning hours) etc.) We recommend to read all the documents and other information very attentive.

You have to behave very confident, and smile. The main aim – to prove that you will return to Ukraine and this programme will help you in your future career, and that you have enough money to participate in this programme.

After the interview you will be asked to wait.

Usually they send you to the medical examination – and very important to book medical examination the same day as the queue makes 3 weeks, and then the results are checked about 3 weeks. For now, the medical inspection was appointed to the half of the participants!

But they can give you the visa at once and present you with 2 letters – Work Permit and Study Permit.

You receive a student visa SW-1 + 2 permits - Work Permit and Study Permit.

* Рlease, be aware this is an Academic program. The reasons to participate in this program are to improve English skills and understanding of North American culture, and hopefully, this will give an advantage when returning home to work/seek employment. This program is not for those who desire to work for earning money primarily. The Practicum component is part of the whole program and your Internship should not exceed a 50/50 split.

In case your application will be denied and you are confident it was for a weak reason, re-applying is recommended. Often, the file will go to a different case officer and sometimes simply submitting the same application will show your willingness and strong desire.
